The Landing Zone

This is the back of our barn.  I met a man who does air brush painting and we bartered out the work.  I was excited about exchanging our talents instead of money.  I had a hard time choosing which sun and moon I wanted painted on the barn.  I found so many cool ones. You can't see it in this picture but on the moon side there are little stars and on the sun side there are floating clouds.   This will eventually be a gathering place for family and friends with a fire pit, comfy chairs and eating space.  In the evening, it's shaded and there is almost always a nice breeze.  It's a wonderful place to star gaze at night and it faces the east so it's a wonderful place to see the sun rise.

When we were on vacation, we had dinner at a restaurant with a beautiful outdoor dining area next to the bay in Seattle.  It was so beautiful outside at one point, I ask my husband did he notice anything.  He didn't know what I was getting at but there was no wind sweeping down the plains and no bugs (flies or mosquitoes).  That is amazing to me, certain parts of the country get all the perks.

My husband affectionately named the area behind the barn " The Landing Zone" after I had a wild dream.  In the dream, I was working in flower beds on the north side of our home, I heard a noise and looked up and a ET craft was slowing rising from behind the barn.  The craft was a shape that I have never seen.  I stood up and started jumping up and down and waving and yelling the craft dipped down to acknowledge me and then in warp speed it was gone.  Usually. I don't remember my dreams, or I can only remember parts of a dream, but I remembered every detail of this dream. It was pretty exciting.

From Alaska With Love

An Alaskan cruise, an amazing gift from our children on our 43rd wedding anniversary.  I need to pull out my thesaurus to find the perfect adjectives to described the last frontier.  Instead, I will let John Muir do it for me, "Beauty beyond thought everywhere, beneath, above, made and being made forever."  Sights, sounds, smells and my feelings as I experienced this handiwork of God, I shall always remember.  

I cannot say, this or that was my favorite.  It was all unique and beautiful.  From my first helicopter ride, to walking on a glacier, the captivating evening of whale watching to a train ride through the mountains hearing about the daring pioneers who were out to seize their bit of gold. The sunrise as we entered the Tracy Arm Fjords with a whale breaching just outside our balcony.  I love whales especially humpbacks so that was pure bliss for me.  I was so excited, like a child receiving a long awaited for toy.

I can only hope that Alaska remains the last frontier.  For the most part, it's been untouched by man.  It offers so many experiences for the person who loves nature.  It's beauty is unparalleled and original.  It's so true, "In every walk with Nature one receives far more than he seeks."  Muir

To our children, the gift was given with much love and with much love it was received and enjoyed.

Tears

I read an interesting article about a very creative and fascinating artist. 

Her cousin, who was a cardiologist, had passed and he left her his 1970 Carl Zeiss microscope with a digital camera mounted on top.  She had been looking at all types of liquid under the microscope but was looking for something deeper not just something that was visually striking. 

She had a series of deaths in her family, loved ones,  the passing of wise elders she called them and this released in her some different emotions.  The tears started and she was curious as to how her tears would look under the microscope never imagining what she would see and feel from observing her tears. There was an sense of majesty as she looked at the tears.  There were walls, fortresses, bubbles, ferns, strange striations, geometry - broken and unbroken.  She said, "she realized the view was a lot like looking out of the window of an airplane, down at the earth below. All in a dried up tear drop."  She started taking tears from different emotions she would feel, laughing till you cry, sad tears, tears of compassion, so mad you cry and she saw the different design in the tears.  Different emotions created different tears.

She has had art shows around the world.  And in France a designer took one of her patterns and created a lace pattern from it.

The artist is Rose-Lynn Fisher, a very interesting and creative woman.  The pictures above are her tears from compassion, joy, sadness and gratitude. I could never do the article justice in this small amount of space but its something else to think and ponder, how our emotions are tied to so many things and how emotions impact all facets of our being.

Louise Hay

My last post was about the passing of a great teacher and I'm here again to tell you about the passing of another great teacher.  I've mentioned her before in my blogs.  Her two books that are great reads are Heal Your Body and You Can Heal Your Life.  In the late 60's she was already making the connection between the body and mind.  She did heal herself of cancer and for that, I think her book is worth reading.  She impacted my life not only through the healing of her body but how important it is for everyone to love themselves.  If you think you really love yourself try standing in front of the mirror and say I love you and you are beautiful.  Smile...... I remember the first time I did that.  Her affirmation cards are great.  Saying positive things everyday does impact our lives.  After all, the Bible says the power of life and death is in the tongue.

Love is the power behind everything.  I am guided every step of the way.  All is well.

We are all students and teachers.  Ask yourself: "What did I come here to learn, and what did I come here to teach?"
