Saturday at the Hardward Store

How is your garden? Is it all planted yet? Mine isn't! The only thing good about the lack of rain.....my weeds are not growing. So I'm somewhat staying on top of everything. I have some of my tomato plants sitting in my breakfast room where they can get plenty of light. I just can't bring myself to put them out in that wind yet.

Sometime you need to make a trip to Chickasha to visit Ross Feed and Seed. It is pretty close to the old hardware stores that were around when I was growing up. I loved going to the hardware store with my dad. Looking in all those bins and there was just a certain smell about that store. I love going to Ross for the nostalgia it brings to my life and they carry a little bit of everything for the farmer/homeowner. Plus you always get a free bag a popcorn and on Wednesday carmel corn. Last Saturday, they had there annual plant sale. Flats were $10.00 and most of the plants and trees were on sale. Free bar-b-que sandwiches and soda pop, the local radio station was playing your favorite country song, and people were walking to the store from blocks away. You couldn't find a parking place. Just about everyone in Chickasha was there. The plants and flowers were beautiful and as I told a friend, for me, it's like going to the grocery store when you're hungry. I want to buy just about everything I see. The blackberry and blueberry bushes, strawberry plants really everything was beautiful.

Last year for Mother's Day my daughter bought me a Lilac bush. I had been wanting one forever. I love Lilacs and they smell so wonderful. I have a picture of it and a picture of the tulips I planted last fall in front of my old headboard.
